Senior Buyer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Buyer to lead a team of approximately 12 buyers within our construction procurement function. Reporting to the Director of Procurement Operations, you will coordinate material, rental, and transportation purchases while ensuring supplier agreements are current and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day activities of a 12‑member buyer team.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with key and strategic suppliers to optimise cost and performance.
• Manage high‑value material and equipment procurement, including opening new supplier accounts.
• Provide technical support for procurement platforms such as ERP and ServiceNow.
• Collaborate with Strategic Procurement, Accounts Payable, and site‑based buyers to ensure alignment and timely payments.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, purchase orders and performance indicators.
• Prepare and present regular reports for senior management.
• Visit construction sites to develop local sourcing strategies and support continuous improvement projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in the construction industry.
• Established relationships with major Canadian suppliers (preferred).
• Hands‑on experience with ERP systems and procurement tools.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract administration, and accounting principles.
• Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance.
