Senior Application Architect – SAP Supply Chain

About the role

The Government of Alberta is seeking a Senior Application Architect to lead the design and governance of its end‑to‑end digital supply chain, procurement and finance ecosystem. This 12‑month contract role will focus on integrating SAP S/4HANA, Ariba, Fieldglass, OpenText and SAP BTP across the Plan‑Source‑Make‑Deliver‑Return processes.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the overall architecture for supply chain, procurement and finance solutions.
• Lead requirement‑gathering sessions and evaluate solution feasibility.
• Ensure alignment of SAP ECC/S/4HANA, Ariba and related applications with public‑sector compliance frameworks.
• Drive enterprise‑wide transformation programs, including process harmonisation and change management.
• Oversee testing and validation activities, particularly for Ariba updates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Business, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years of solution design experience with a long‑term architectural vision.
• At least 10 years working with SAP ECC or S/4HANA in Source‑to‑Contract or Procure‑to‑Pay modules.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with SAP Finance (FI) and SAP Ariba.
• 8 years of experience in enterprise‑wide transformation, process harmonisation and system integration.
• Proven leadership in IT testing, validation and requirement gathering.
• Strong understanding of public‑sector procurement practices and end‑to‑end supply chain processes.
