Self Checkout Attendant

About the role

The Self Checkout Attendant role at Walmart Canada provides an excellent opportunity to develop retail skills while delivering a positive shopping experience. You will assist customers in the self‑checkout area, ensure smooth transactions, and support store initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized self‑checkout area, keeping it free of debris, spills and foreign objects.
• Promote Walmart programs such as credit card services, product protection plans and charitable initiatives.
• Assist customers at self‑checkout, guiding them through transactions and escalating cash or technical issues when needed.
• Respond to EAS alerts according to procedures and complete the “Failure to Deactivate” log.
• Manage Scan & Go equipment, ensuring scanners are returned to their proper storage locations.
• Work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to support store operations.

Required profile

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Able to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift inventory or equipment up to 20 lb (occasionally up to 50 lb).
• Capable of handling a fast‑paced environment and high task volume.
• Willing to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
