Scraper Operator – Heavy Construction

About the role

Sureway Construction, one of Alberta’s largest heavy‑construction contractors, is seeking a reliable Scraper Operator to join its crew in the Edmonton area. You will work on civil earthworks, grading and aggregate extraction projects, operating a push‑pull and auger‑equipped scraper to shape and contour the terrain.

Key responsibilities

• Operate scraper controls to adjust blade and bowl height for precise grading.
• Make successive passes over the work surface to raise or lower terrain according to grade stakes or hand signals.
• Maintain proper gear selection and speed for safe operation under varying conditions.
• Use the cushion hitch correctly while moving the scraper.
• Interpret grades, roadway plans and drawings to achieve required elevations.
• Promote and follow the company’s safety program on‑site.

Required profile

• Minimum one (1) year of experience operating a scraper (push‑pull & auger).
• Reliable personal vehicle and CSA‑approved steel‑toed boots with 6" ankle support.
• Ability to work physically demanding schedules, including 10+ hours per day, 6 days on/1 day off.
• Willingness to undergo pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing and complete company orientations.
