School Age Educator – Peterborough (30 hrs/week)

About the role

At Compass you will work as a School Age Educator alongside passionate educators, engaging with children, families, community partners and co‑workers. You are enthusiastic about early learning, emergent curriculum and lifelong learning, bringing energy, resourcefulness and creativity to create meaningful learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and lead interest‑based and play‑based activities that support children’s physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
• Maintain active supervision while staying engaged in play.
• Document children’s learning progress through observation and reflection.
• Ensure a safe, healthy environment that protects children’s well‑being.
• Assist children with diapering, dressing and eating routines.
• Build strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
• Collaborate with coworkers, families and community partners to create a supportive environment.
• Participate in team meetings, professional learning and staff training.
• Perform housekeeping duties as needed and follow CELC, CCEYA and Ministry of Education policies.

Required profile

• 1–3 years experience working with children and youth.
• Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
• Valid Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, CPR Level C and up‑to‑date immunization records.
• Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or currently pursuing an ECE diploma, or holding an alternative childcare designation approved by the Director.
