ROV Technician – Offshore Operations

About the role

Oceaneering Canada runs year‑round offshore ROV missions supporting major energy projects in Newfoundland and Labrador. The ROV Technician will maintain, test and repair ROV systems and associated support equipment to ensure safe and efficient subsea operations. The role offers exposure to industry‑leading ROV platforms and the chance to work alongside experienced subsea professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, test, troubleshoot and repair ROV systems and related support equipment.
• Assist with ROV launch, recovery, deployment and subsea intervention activities.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance in line with company procedures and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical and software faults.
• Support equipment mobilization, demobilization, testing and commissioning.
• Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, permit‑to‑work processes and other safety initiatives.
• Liaise with offshore and shore‑based personnel regarding equipment status and technical issues.
• Prepare maintenance documentation, technical reports and shift handovers, and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (required).
• Experience as an ROV Technician (domestic or international) or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Ability to obtain a valid passport and any regionally mandated offshore work documents.
• Preferred: Engineering Technologist or Technician diploma.
• Valid CAPP‑compliant offshore training, including Basic Survival Training, WHMIS, H2S Alive, Fall Protection and Regulatory Awareness.
