Research Manager – AI in Psychiatry

About the role

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia is hiring a full‑time Research Manager to coordinate an interdisciplinary AI‑driven research program focused on psychiatry and supportive cancer care. Working under Dr. John‑Jose Nunez, the role supports the development of patient navigation tools, clinical‑guideline chatbots and predictive models in partnership with BC Cancer and the UBC Mood Disorders Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily research operations and manage multiple concurrent studies.
• Prepare grant and funding applications, manuscripts, and ethics submissions.
• Lead evaluation and implementation of AI tools developed by the lab.
• Recruit participants, conduct studies, and ensure data quality.
• Onboard, supervise, and mentor junior trainees and research assistants.

Required profile

• Experience in research management or a recent PhD/post‑doctoral fellowship with interest in research administration.
• Ability to work collaboratively with investigators, patient partners and external collaborators.
• Full‑time availability (35 hrs/week) with a hybrid work arrangement.
