About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Steif Laboratory within the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia. The role will support cutting‑edge single‑cell omics projects aimed at unraveling tumour clonal dynamics and microenvironment interactions in patient samples.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and process single‑cell genomic libraries using state‑of‑the‑art protocols.
  • Operate and maintain liquid‑handling robotics and next‑generation sequencing platforms.
  • Generate high‑throughput data and assist with quality control and data management.
  • Collaborate with principal investigators and multidisciplinary teams to optimise experimental designs.
  • Contribute to protocol development and technology innovation within the Single Cell Genomics Platform.

Required profile

  • Strong background in molecular biology and experience with genomic techniques.
  • Demonstrated expertise in single‑cell library preparation, robotics, or NGS workflows.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
