About the role

The Department of Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia seeks a full‑time Research Associate to join the Lorincz Laboratory in the Life Sciences Institute. The role focuses on epigenetic regulation during early embryonic development, integrating molecular biology and bioinformatics approaches.

Key responsibilities

  • Isolate and analyse mouse embryos and perform CRISPR‑based engineering of embryonic stem cells.
  • Conduct genome‑wide assays including ChIP‑seq, whole‑genome bisulphite sequencing, ATAC‑seq and RNA‑seq on limited material.
  • Perform bioinformatic analyses of sequencing data and interpret results.
  • Prepare figures, tables and draft manuscripts describing experimental findings.

Required profile

  • Strong understanding of genetics and molecular biology techniques.
  • Demonstrated bioinformatics expertise, preferably with next‑generation sequencing data.
  • Experience with mouse embryo work and CRISPR genome editing.
  • Ability to work independently while reporting to the principal investigator.
