About the role

The Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia seeks a Research Associate to investigate the molecular mechanisms governing mammalian digit tip regeneration. Working under Dr. Freda Miller, the successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team focused on defining why the digit tip uniquely regenerates after injury.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments to uncover cellular and molecular pathways involved in digit tip regeneration.
  • Apply single‑cell spatial transcriptomics to map gene expression patterns.
  • Generate and analyze data from genetic mouse models.
  • Utilize advanced imaging technologies for tissue visualization.
  • Collaborate with lab members, contribute to data interpretation, and prepare manuscripts.

Required profile

  • Ph.D. in regeneration biology or a closely related field.
  • Post‑doctoral experience with single‑cell spatial transcriptomics and genetic mouse models.
  • Strong background in molecular cell biology.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
