Research Associate – Biochemistry & Molecular Biology

About the role
The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of British Columbia seeks a full‑time Research Associate to join Dr. Filip Van Petegem’s laboratory. The position supports cutting‑edge structural and biophysical studies of ion channels.
Key responsibilities
- Purify ion channels for structural and biophysical analyses.
- Perform chromatography for protein purification.
- Prepare cryo‑EM grids and collect high‑resolution cryo‑EM datasets.
- Process cryo‑EM data for 3D reconstruction and refine structural models.
- Conduct electrophysiology experiments.
- Quantify protein–protein and protein–ligand interactions.
Required profile
- Motivated researcher able to work under the supervision of Dr. Filip Van Petegem.
