Research Assistant / Technician – Genotyping Facility (Part‑time)

About the role

The Genotyping Facility at UBC’s School of Biomedical Engineering is seeking a part‑time Research Assistant/Technician to support a range of genotyping workflows. The role involves hands‑on laboratory work for a one‑year term (20 hours per week) and provides training in techniques that are in high demand across biological research.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in sample preparation for genotyping projects.
• Perform DNA/RNA extraction and cDNA synthesis.
• Run PCR‑based genotyping assays.
• Document experimental data and maintain quality‑control records.
• Follow standard operating procedures and health‑safety guidelines.
• Provide timely, high‑quality service to internal customers across the Biomedical Research Centre.

• Capability to work safely in a laboratory environment.
