About the role
The University of British Columbia is seeking a Research Assistant to support its participation in a large Canadian multicenter randomized controlled trial evaluating irrigation solutions in primary hip and knee replacement surgery. This position will be the primary research staff for the UBC site.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and submit amendments to the UBC research ethics application.
- Coordinate with the sponsoring site on study protocol, procedures, and compliance.
- Recruit participants for the trial and obtain informed consent.
- Collect baseline, surgical, and follow‑up outcome data.
- Maintain accurate trial documentation and data integrity.
Required profile
- Experience or training in clinical research coordination.
- Familiarity with research ethics processes and documentation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to liaise with sponsor and clinical teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research group.

- Hybrid work arrangement (onsite and remote).
- Fixed‑term contract for one year with possible extension based on trial progress.
- Competitive monthly salary range of $4,333.86 – $5,155.61 CAD.
