About the role
The Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia is seeking a Research Assistant to join the MS MRI Research Group. The role focuses on developing and implementing advanced MRI analysis techniques and pipelines to support cutting‑edge neuroimaging studies.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate novel MRI processing and analysis pipelines.
- Conduct data analysis using MATLAB, Python, and MRI software such as FSL, FreeSurfer, and the Spinal Cord Toolbox.
- Operate the ultra‑low field MRI scanner and apply advanced imaging protocols.
- Lead analysis design, interpret results, and contribute to abstracts and manuscript preparation for projects on radiologically isolated syndrome and autoimmune encephalitis.
- Collaborate with faculty, radiologists, programmers, and technicians, and supervise student research projects.
- Share analysis methods with internal and external collaborators and promote their adoption nationally and internationally.
Required profile
- Works under the supervision of the MS MRI Manager and translational medicine leadership.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams including researchers, coordinators, radiologists, programmers, and technicians.
Required skills
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Python programming.
- Experience with MRI analysis packages: FSL, FreeSurfer, and the Spinal Cord Toolbox.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot ultra‑low field MRI equipment.
