Research Assistant – Healthy Aging (Technician 1)

About the role
The University of British Columbia’s Liu‑Ambrose Laboratory is seeking a Research Assistant (Research Technician 1) to support grant‑funded studies on healthy aging. Working under the direct supervision of Dr. Teresa Liu‑Ambrose and the Lab Research Coordinators, you will contribute to participant recruitment, data collection, and laboratory management.
Key responsibilities
- Recruit, screen, and enroll older adults with co‑morbidities (falls history, mild cognitive impairment, stroke, cardiovascular disease, hip fracture).
- Collect and enter participant data using REDCap and other preset databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Manage, process, and perform quality checks on neuroimaging data.
- Coordinate referrals to the Falls Prevention Clinic and maintain participant schedules.
- Maintain lab inventory, order supplies, process invoices, and organize documentation.
- Make regular telephone calls to participants for follow‑up data collection.
- Collaborate daily with the Lab Research Coordinator and weekly with the program Director.
Required profile
- Interest in aging, mobility, and cognitive health research.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with participants and team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
Required skills
- Experience with REDCap for data capture and management.
- Knowledge of neuroimaging data processing and quality assurance.
- Proficiency in data entry and basic data management tools.
