Rental Operations Assistant (Independent Contractor)

About the role

This entry‑level, hands‑on position supports Scarab Digital’s rental and warehouse operations for film and television productions. You will prepare, track, and maintain playback and set equipment to ensure productions run smoothly and reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Process inbound and outbound equipment orders with accuracy and care.
• Inspect returned gear, log maintenance needs, and ready equipment for the next job.
• Maintain accurate inventory records in internal systems, updating status, packaging, and locations.
• Prepare, pack, label, and organize equipment for pickups, deliveries, sub‑rentals, and time‑sensitive orders.
• Assist with coordinating deliveries, follow up on delayed returns, and support tracking of equipment across active jobs.
• Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and operationally ready.
• Provide basic troubleshooting and route larger issues to the appropriate team.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in warehouse, equipment handling, rentals, A/V, or related practical operations (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
• Comfort with physical work, including lifting gear safely.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and reliability.
• Clear communication skills and ability to follow checklists and manuals.
• Eligibility to work in Canada.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Drive or similar cloud‑based office tools.
• Experience using rental or asset‑management software (Scarab uses FLEX).
• Basic troubleshooting of hardware and software equipment.
• Accurate data‑entry skills.
