Registered Practical Nurse – OBS/Surgical Inpatient (Casual)

About the role

We are seeking a casual Registered Practical Nurse to join the OBS/Surgical Inpatient unit at Groves Memorial Community Hospital. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality nursing care to patients recovering from obstetric and surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in the OBS/Surgical Inpatient unit, including assessments, medication administration, and wound care.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other health‑care professionals in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Administer IV medications and maintain accurate documentation.
• Support breastfeeding mothers and assist with postpartum education.
• Participate in emergency response, including neonatal resuscitation when required.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses.
• Completion of a BCLS certification.
• Updated IV therapy course and IV medication administration competency within three months of hire.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work day, evening, and night shifts as scheduled.
• Clear police vulnerable sector check and satisfactory reference checks.
