Red Seal Powerline Technician – Ontario (Journeyperson/Subforeperson/Foreperson)

About the role

The Canadian Union of Skilled Workers is recruiting Red Seal‑qualified Powerline Technicians for Hydro One Networks Inc. across Ontario’s Eastern and Central zones. Positions are available for Journeypersons, Sub‑forepersons and Forepersons on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis, with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Construction, maintenance and refurbishment of transmission lines within the Bulk Electrical System.
• Planning, scheduling and execution of daily work activities for transmission programs and capital projects.
• Stringing transmission lines, tower assembly/erection, and insulator replacement.
• Wood pole replacement, shield‑wire replacement, OPGW installation, conductor dead‑ending and looping.
• Ensuring compliance with Hydro One safety rules and procedures.

Required profile

• Valid G licence and Red Seal certification as a Powerline Technician Journeyperson.
• Physical ability to climb towers and poles, perform rescue techniques (including bucket evacuation) and work in extreme weather.
• Valid DZ or AZ driver’s licence.
• Previous supervisory or transmission experience is an asset.
• Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset.
