About the role
The French Language Promotion and Community Engagement Officer reports to the Vice‑Provost, Rayonnement du français and drives initiatives that raise the visibility and accessibility of French language and culture across the university. Working with internal units, student groups and external partners, the officer fosters engagement, strengthens connections with Quebec society and the broader Francophonie, and supports an inclusive environment for French‑language programs.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and launch communication and outreach campaigns that promote French‑language programs, services and opportunities to students, staff and faculty.
- Plan, coordinate and execute large‑scale meetings, conferences, special events and campaigns that celebrate French language and culture on campus and in the community.
- Collaborate with faculties, administrative units and student associations to create multilingual communications and increase French‑language presence university‑wide.
- Provide guidance and support for local projects aimed at promoting the French language.
- Build and maintain relationships with unit heads, student groups and external organisations to expand engagement opportunities.
- Lead consultations with key stakeholders to identify needs and priorities for the Bureau du rayonnement du français.
- Support participation in external partnerships, networks and events that enhance the university’s presence within the Francophonie.
- Monitor participation data, prepare reports and identify opportunities to improve outreach impact.
- Stay informed of emerging practices in communications and community engagement and apply relevant approaches.
- Design and manage digital content, advertising and promotional materials for events and campaigns.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, cultural studies or a related field.
- At least three years of experience in communications, community engagement or cultural promotion.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and experience managing large‑scale events or campaigns.
