Project Manager – Infrastructure Management

About the role

The City of Hamilton is seeking a Project Manager to lead water, wastewater and storm‑water infrastructure asset management projects. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will guide engineering and financial studies, coordinate consultants and ensure delivery in line with city and provincial standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day execution of the Water/Wastewater/Storm Water asset management program, including audits, assessments and capital improvement business cases.
• Develop project scopes, schedules and budgets, assign resources, and oversee consultant deliverables such as terms of reference and data collection.
• Formulate long‑range inspection and maintenance plans using condition, risk and lifecycle data, and support the annual capital budgeting process.
• Liaise with external agencies (MECP, provincial and federal bodies) and represent the city at meetings and presentations.
• Supervise technicians, technologists and support staff on project‑specific tasks and participate in multidisciplinary teams across city departments.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Membership with Professional Engineers of Ontario or Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in municipal infrastructure project management and asset management of water/wastewater/storm‑water facilities.
• Knowledge of the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act and Ontario Water Resources Act.

Required skills

• Asset management software and methodologies for water and wastewater systems.
• GIS tools (GeoMedia) and familiarity with InforEAM and SCADA systems.
• Microsoft Office suite – Access, Word, Excel.
• Project planning, budgeting and stakeholder coordination.
