Project Design Specialist – Mechanical Design (SGT‑A35)

About the role

As a Project Design Specialist you will be a core member of the mechanical design team focused on the SGT‑A35 gas turbine. You will work on R&D projects, cost‑reduction initiatives and operational activities, creating and refining component designs that meet fit‑form‑function requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and iterate component designs from concept through detailed design, manufacturing optimisation and implementation.
• Produce DFMEAs, technical drawings, models, schemes, presentations, specifications and design guidelines.
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices within the team.
• Collaborate with analytical and manufacturing specialists to optimise solutions.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis of field failures for components you have designed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
• 5‑10 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in turbomachinery or related manufacturing environments.
• Fluency in English; ability to work in a French‑speaking environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M drawing standards.
• Experience performing DFMEAs.
• Ability to conduct root‑cause analysis.
