Project Coordinator – Electrical Technical Support

About the role

The Project Coordinator – Electrical Technical Support oversees and inspects the work of trade personnel, consultants, and contractors within UBC Building Operations. The role manages project funds, schedules, and resources to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery while maintaining safety and compliance with university policies.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate Head Tradespeople, consultants, and project teams, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule.
• Initiate tender processes, review bids, recommend contract awards, and monitor construction and material supply.
• Ensure job‑site safety programs are active and that all workers follow safe practices.
• Prepare estimates, budgets, and financial documentation, and track project progress from start to finish.
• Conduct inspections, verify compliance with UBC standards and relevant codes, and address deficiencies promptly.
• Provide technical support and advisory services on low‑voltage systems, reviewing designs and ensuring conformity with codes.
• Maintain and update electrical design drawings, specifications, and related documentation.

Required profile

• Technologist certification or high school diploma with relevant journeyperson trade certification.
• Valid BC driver’s licence.
• Minimum seven years of relevant experience or an equivalent education‑experience mix.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and CSA standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Visio, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, create sketches, and compile documentation packages.
• Experience with Workday, Planon, and ETAP is an asset.
