Facilities Manager – Campus Operations

About the role

The Facilities Manager provides operational oversight for a campus zone of over 1 million gross square feet, covering academic, research and administrative spaces. Acting as the primary point of contact for building maintenance, public realm, minor renovations and major projects, the role ensures safe, reliable and consistent operation of university facilities while aligning customer needs with operational capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day building operations, maintain relationships with user departments, and serve as the main contact for maintenance, cleaning, public‑realm and minor renovation requests.
• Communicate proactively with customers about disruptive work, access restrictions, service interruptions and safety considerations.
• Lead planning and approval of service shutdowns, assess risks, and authorize timing based on academic schedules and research activities.
• Provide zone‑specific insights for operational and project planning, contributing to resource allocation and long‑range planning discussions.
• Monitor chargeable work, customer‑funded projects and centrally funded maintenance, guiding customers on cost responsibilities and equipment ownership.
• Conduct regular inspections of buildings and public realms, identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
