Program Coordinator – Indigenous Strategic Initiatives

About the role

The Office of Indigenous Strategic Initiatives (OISI) at UBC seeks a Program Coordinator to support the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of programs linked to the Indigenous Strategic Plan. The role requires tact, discretion, and cultural sensitivity while working with Indigenous communities and university partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage ISP committees, develop program timelines, track progress and contribute to reporting.
• Guide Indigenous Strategic Plan implementation through workshops, research, and preparation of briefs.
• Plan and facilitate meetings, triage strategic support requests, and recommend next steps for programs and projects.
• Develop and maintain documentation, systems, and processes to ensure smooth program delivery and alignment with ISP actions.
• Engage with stakeholders, conduct consultations, and evaluate requests to provide informed recommendations.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant discipline with at least two years of related experience.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and respect for diverse perspectives, especially Indigenous viewpoints.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with ability to work collaboratively across cultures.
• Ability to manage demanding workloads, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using videoconferencing tools such as Zoom.
• Familiarity with electronic survey platforms like Qualtrics and Doodle.
