Production Supervisor – Afternoon Shift

About the role

The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations on the afternoon shift, ensuring safety, quality, and on‑time delivery while leading a unionized team of production workers.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce health and safety policies and conduct regular inspections.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production activities, anticipating material shortages, equipment issues, and rush orders.
• Lead daily stand‑up meetings and provide clear expectations under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Maintain production documentation, work instructions, and generate reports on production, maintenance, and safety.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and collaborate with maintenance teams.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, SMED, 5S, labour balancing, and bottleneck management.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and employee training.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Flexibility to work day and afternoon shifts with overtime as needed.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

Required skills

• CWB Welding Supervisor certification.
• Robotic welding experience.
• Ability to read shop drawings for welding and fabrication.
• Experience training employees on welding and machine operations.
• Advanced computer skills, including Google Workspace and manufacturing software.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools: Kaizen, SMED, 5S.
