Private Debt Co-op/Internship – Winter or Summer 2027

About the role
Use your research and investment skills in a fast‑growing company where you can have an impact. The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking Private Debt Co‑ops/Interns for the Winter 2027 (January to April) and Summer 2027 (May to August) work terms to provide support across a range of credit investment types, including senior and subordinated debt.
Key responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of Private Debt team members to assist with various projects.
- Support the diligence of prospective investments as an integrated part of the Private Debt team.
- Assist in executing new investment opportunities, including comprehensive written reports and financial modeling.
- Monitor portfolio investments and identify relevant risks.
- Complete ad‑hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the team.
Required profile
- Students in an undergraduate program, preferably in Business (Finance or Accounting) or Economics.
- Passion for investing, a drive to continually learn about financial markets, and an interest in credit markets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- High level of professionalism, interpersonal skills, and strong research abilities.
Required skills
- Fundamental knowledge of finance, accounting, business, and investment‑related disciplines.
- Experience developing financial models (considered an asset).
- High proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with Bloomberg and S&P Capital IQ/Market Intelligence (asset).
