Principal Forward Deployed Engineer - AI & Developer Platform

About the role

Broadcom is looking for a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to act as a technical authority, enterprise developer advocate and field-to-engineering leader within its Infrastructure Software Division. The role embeds with the largest, most complex enterprise accounts to help internal and external developer teams build, deploy and scale AI-native applications on the company's core infrastructure. It sits at the intersection of Developer Experience, API architecture and LLM/AI platform engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main technical bridge between customer developers, platform engineering teams, product managers and executive architects.
• Design, validate and standardize REST, gRPC and GraphQL APIs, Kubernetes CRDs and SDKs.
• Establish continuous delivery pipelines, GitOps patterns (ArgoCD, Flux) and self-service developer portals.
• Build developer CLI tools, testing harnesses and automation frameworks for the VKS and VCF platforms.
• Architect LLM inference, agentic frameworks and RAG pipelines on high-density GPU clusters, and standardize integrations for LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen and vLLM.
• Set patterns for containerizing and tuning Ray, vLLM, SGLang, Spark and vector databases, and expose API gateways for model serving.
• Write production Go, Python and TypeScript code in the field and feed it back into core product codebases.
• Influence the multi-year technical roadmap and mentor the broader FDE organization on API design and documentation.

Required profile

• 17+ years of professional experience in technical software roles.
• 10+ years of software engineering, with 5+ years driving DevEx, API design or AI platform architectures at scale.
• Track record of earning C-suite credibility while staying hands-on with staff developers and systems engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Required skills

• API design (REST, gRPC, OpenAPI) and Kubernetes internals (CRDs, Operators, Cluster API).
• GitOps workflows and infrastructure-as-code.
• Go, Python and TypeScript/Node.js.
• LLM frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Ray, vLLM, SGLang) and vector databases (Milvus, Qdrant, Pinecone, pgvector, Weaviate).
• Multi-cloud Kubernetes distributions (EKS, GKE, AKS, OpenShift, Rancher).

What we offer

• Annual base salary of CAD 115,600 to 185,000.
