Principal Engineer

About the role

Wood Rodgers is seeking a dynamic Principal Engineer to lead its Geotechnical Department. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of water‑resource, landslide, commercial, industrial, transportation and public‑works projects while fostering client relationships and guiding engineering staff.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal and external client relationships through meetings and proposals.
• Prepare scope and fee estimates in response to RFPs.
• Perform engineering analyses using company and industry methodologies and standards.
• Provide direction and training to engineering staff in exploration, sampling, testing, analysis and report writing.
• Plan and execute field investigation programs.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, technical memoranda and review PS&E packages for compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geology (Master’s preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
• 15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, including field investigations, analysis and report preparation.
• Proven project and client management experience and ability to lead staff.
