Principal AI Engineer – AI Systems Lead

About the role

PointClickCare is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to lead the design and implementation of AI systems across multiple SaaS solutions. The role drives enterprise‑wide AI enablement, defines strategy, evangelizes adoption, and delivers measurable business impact.

Key responsibilities

• Set technical vision and reference architecture for agentic AI across applications, defining organization‑wide standards for reasoning loops, tool use, memory, safety and interoperability.
• Build and govern reusable platform components such as model broker, multi‑model routing, orchestration services, evaluation harnesses, prompt/versioning stores and telemetry to accelerate adoption.
• Develop advanced prompting strategies for large language models and establish evaluation frameworks including offline/online testing, safety assessments and business outcome dashboards.
• Drive cross‑functional roadmaps, define API/versioning contracts, optimize LLM/agent cost performance and mentor engineers.
• Act as the internal AI subject‑matter expert, identify high‑value AI use cases, prioritize execution and ensure alignment with Responsible AI, security and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven leadership shipping agentic AI at scale across multiple SaaS products and setting organization‑wide standards.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Document Intelligence and Anthropic Claude models.
• Advanced Python and Java production expertise, including testing, packaging and performance profiling.
• Deep knowledge of RAG pipelines, document preprocessing, embeddings, vector stores and data quality/versioning.
• BSc/BA in Computer Science or related field.
