President & CEO – Steel Construction Association

About the role

The Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) is seeking a visionary President & Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization, champion steel in Canadian construction, and drive sustainable design initiatives. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will act as the primary advisor, ambassador, and advocate for members and the broader industry.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of CISC’s operations and programs.
• Deepen relationships with government, industry stakeholders, academia, and members.
• Advocate for steel usage nationally, influencing public policy and industry standards.
• Represent CISC at national events, conferences, and media engagements.
• Travel up to one week per month to meet partners and promote the organization.

Required profile

• 15+ years of senior leadership experience in government, business, public policy, or association management.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• Passion for steel, construction, and sustainable design.
• Strong network within the Canadian construction and steel sectors.
