Postdoctoral Research Fellow – PERCS Project

About the role

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Perennial Ecosystem Restoration for Carbon Sequestration (PERCS) project at the University of British Columbia. The fellow will support the Spatial Science/Synthesis component, integrating social and ecological data on biodiversity and ecosystem services of perennial agricultural features.

Key responsibilities

• Collect coordinated ecological field data on perennial features in the Lower Fraser Valley and supervise undergraduate research assistants.
• Integrate and synthesize biodiversity and ecosystem‑service data from all PERCS components to assess landscape multifunctionality.
• Perform spatial analyses to evaluate how landscape structure influences ecosystem benefits.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to study design, data analysis, and publish peer‑reviewed papers.
• Communicate findings through reports, conference presentations, and partner workshops.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in landscape ecology, agroecology, agrobiodiversity, ecosystem services, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience conducting field research and managing small research teams.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills for data integration and spatial analysis.
• Ability to work collaboratively across institutions and with external partners.

Required skills

• Knowledge of landscape ecology and ecosystem service assessment.
• Experience with spatial analysis (e.g., GIS, remote sensing).
