Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Endometriosis Oncology Genomics

About the role
The Endometriosis Oncogenomics and Pathology Research Lab (EDGE) at the University of British Columbia seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to investigate the molecular mechanisms driving malignant transformation of endometriosis into ovarian carcinomas. This on‑site role integrates molecular biology, genomics, epigenomics, microbiome science, proteomics, and clinical research.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate incoming specimens, maintaining ethics approvals and hospital relationships.
- Support development and validation of cellular and genotoxic stress assays, primarily IHC/IF based.
- Lead laser capture enrichment of tissues for whole‑genome sequencing and oversee external sequencing contracts and bioinformatics pipelines.
- Design studies, interpret data, ensure quality control, and troubleshoot experimental workflows.
- Conduct genomic analysis and integrate multi‑omics data, including microbiome and cell‑stress phenotypes.
- Collaborate with spatial transcriptomics and functional genomics teams, optimizing laboratory and analytical workflows.
- Contribute to grant applications, manuscripts, reports, and presentations with strong scientific writing.
- Supervise, train, and recruit junior trainees such as undergraduate and graduate students.
Required profile
- PhD in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with low‑input whole‑genome sequencing and tissue enrichment techniques.
- Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary projects and collaborate with clinicians and external partners.
- Strong scientific writing and communication skills.
