Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Endometriosis Oncogenomics

About the role
The Endometriosis Oncogenomics and Pathology (EDGE) Research Lab at the University of British Columbia seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to investigate the malignant transformation of endometriosis into ovarian carcinomas. The role involves multidisciplinary collaboration across molecular biology, genomics, epigenomics, microbiome science, proteomics, and clinical research.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate incoming specimens, maintaining ethics approvals and hospital relationships.
- Support assay development and validation, focusing on cellular and genotoxic stress assays (IHC/IF).
- Lead review, laser capture enrichment, and whole-genome sequencing of tissue samples, including external sequencing contracts.
- Design studies, interpret data, ensure quality control, and troubleshoot experiments.
- Conduct genomic analysis and integrate multi-omics data, including microbiome and cell-stress phenotypes.
- Collaborate with spatial transcriptomics and functional genomics teams, optimizing laboratory and analytical workflows.
- Contribute to grant applications, manuscripts, reports, and presentations with strong scientific writing.
- Supervise, train, and recruit junior trainees such as undergraduate and graduate students.
Required profile
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g., molecular biology, genetics, cancer biology).
- Experience with low-input whole-genome sequencing and genotoxic stress marker assays.
- Proficiency in immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) techniques.
- Familiarity with laser capture microdissection and bioinformatics pipelines for multi-omics integration.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and communicate scientific findings effectively.
