Postdoctoral Fellow – Translational Radiation Oncology

About the role
The Analytics in Medical Sciences Institute at UBC Okanagan, in partnership with the BC Cancer Agency, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to lead a three‑year project in translational radiation oncology. The fellow will work on identifying biomarkers of radiation response and developing integrative models that combine genotype and other molecular data.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to discover clinical or pre‑clinical biomarkers of radiation response.
- Record, analyze, and document experimental data with rigorous accuracy.
- Develop integrative models of radiation response using genotype, Raman spectroscopy, blood markers and other multimodal data.
- Build and maintain data pipelines, ensuring secure transfer, storage, and sharing in compliance with privacy and regulatory standards.
- Assist in training and supervising graduate students and research assistants.
- Prepare presentations, abstracts, manuscripts, and reports in collaboration with the research team.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in medical physics, chemistry, bioinformatics, computational cancer biology/genetics or a related field obtained within the last 5 years (or M.D. within the last 10 years).
- Demonstrated ability to manage a research project from conception to completion.
- Strong record of scientific communication and collaboration.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Python and R.
- Experience with machine‑learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Familiarity with genotype data, Raman spectroscopy and multimodal data integration.
- Knowledge of population‑level administrative databases and data‑transfer protocols.
