PLC Programmer and Electrical Controls Specialist

About the role

The Automation and Electrical Controls Specialist is a key member of Proax Technologies' technical team, responsible for developing, implementing and troubleshooting automation applications across multiple industry sectors. The role requires strong problem‑solving skills, adaptability to change, and a passion for delivering high‑quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, motion control, vision, drive, robot and safety applications.
• Configure system network architecture and integrate internal and external devices.
• Perform electrical, programming and pneumatic troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Project and Technical Managers to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and meet customer expectations.
• Provide onsite technical support, product presentations and training at customer facilities.
• Document program changes, create manuals and generate Bills of Materials for control systems.
• Maintain project databases, calendars and adhere to company programming standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in custom automation and willingness to travel locally and internationally.
• Strong understanding of machine design, electrical circuits and fieldbus communications (Ethercat, EthernetIP, Modbus).
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams, make decisions under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Required skills

• PLC programming on Omron, Mitsubishi and Rockwell platforms.
• Experience with HMIs, motion control, vision systems, drives, ABB robots and RobotStudio simulation.
• Proficiency in Structured Text, Visual Basic or SQL.
• Knowledge of safety applications and creation of Bills of Materials.
