Plant Care Services Research Coordinator

About the role

The Plant Care Services Research Coordinator will work within UBC’s Plant Care Research Support platform to oversee the operational coordination of research projects across multiple greenhouse sites. Reporting to the Plant Care Services Research Manager, the role ensures resources, staff and equipment are aligned to meet project goals.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all research activities and staff for the Main Greenhouse, South and Totem facilities.
• Allocate plant‑care resources and staffing in consultation with the Research Platform Manager.
• Maintain oversight of plant‑care equipment, maintenance schedules, and security of staff and users.
• Respond to emergency situations during and outside regular hours.
• Supervise staff, provide guidance on day‑to‑day operations, and advise on staffing allocations.
• Develop and assess research methods, ensure proper data interpretation, and evaluate client requirements against existing infrastructure.
• Foster relationships with academic partners and industry stakeholders to support collaborative projects.

Required profile

• Experience in coordinating research projects within a plant‑care or greenhouse environment.
• Strong understanding of plant‑care equipment, maintenance needs, and safety protocols.
• Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
