Physician Champion – Clinical HIS Implementation

About the role

The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is seeking Physician Champions to guide the planning and implementation of a modern Health Information System (HIS) across its sites. This site‑based medical leadership role allows physicians to influence system design, workflow, and documentation to reflect real‑world practice.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary physician voice for HIS implementation at the assigned site.
• Participate in current‑state and future‑state workflow analysis and validate order sets, documentation templates, and decision‑support tools.
• Engage in system and user‑acceptance testing, documenting and escalating physician‑related issues.
• Support creation of physician‑specific training materials and provide peer coaching during go‑live.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams, nursing, and clinical leaders to design safe, efficient workflows.

Required profile

• Physician committed to ensuring HIS implementation aligns with clinical practice.
• Ability to represent physician perspectives to the site Chief of Staff and HIS Project Team.
• Willingness to engage colleagues, provide feedback, and act as a trusted clinical advocate.
