Physiatrist – Rehabilitation Medicine (Nanaimo)

About the role

The Island Health Division of Rehabilitation Medicine is seeking a general physiatrist to join a team of six physicians. The role provides consultative and directive care for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and surrounding communities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive rehabilitation medicine services for patients with neurological conditions, post‑traumatic injuries, and amputations.
• Collaborate with a full spectrum of medical, surgical, and psychiatric specialists on‑site.
• Utilize hospital diagnostic resources including X‑ray, CT, MRI, sonography, and nuclear medicine.
• Perform epidural and facet injection procedures as part of patient management.
• Provide consulting services without night call responsibilities.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible physiatrist with interest in hospital‑based rehabilitation.
• Experience managing complex neurological and trauma‑related rehabilitation cases.
• Willingness to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Epidural injection technique
• Facet injection technique
• Interpretation of diagnostic imaging (X‑ray, CT, MRI, sonography, nuclear medicine)
