Physiatrist – Rehabilitation Medicine (Nanaimo, BC)

About the role

The Island Health Division of Rehabilitation Medicine is seeking a general physiatrist to join a team of six physicians. The role provides consultative and directive care for patients with neurological conditions, post‑traumatic injuries, and amputations across inpatient and outpatient settings at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consultative rehabilitation services to in‑patients and out‑patients.
• Manage rehabilitation programs for neurological diseases, trauma‑related impairments, and amputations.
• Collaborate with a full spectrum of medical, surgical, and psychiatric specialists on‑site.
• Utilise diagnostic imaging (X‑ray, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, sonography) to guide treatment.
• Perform epidural and facet injection procedures as needed.
• Provide care without night‑call responsibilities.

Required profile

• Board‑certified physiatrist with interest or expertise in neurological, post‑traumatic, and amputation rehabilitation.
• Willingness to work in a hospital‑based and outpatient environment.
• Ability to start as soon as possible.
