Photo Digital Technician

About the role
The Photo Digital Technician supports the Department of Art History, Visual Art & Theory at UBC by managing photography facilities and providing technical guidance to students and faculty. This onsite position ensures safe, efficient operation of both analog and digital imaging resources.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of photographic facilities at BC Binning Studios.
- Supervise darkrooms, maintain film processing equipment, and manage digital lab imaging tools.
- Orient students of all levels in studio, darkroom, and digital imaging practices.
- Consult with instructors on technical and digital processes for photography courses.
- Develop learning resources and provide technical support for lens‑based research and practice.
Required profile
- Relevant education, training, and experience in photography and imaging.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Strong organizational skills for facility management and equipment maintenance.
Required skills
- Operation of photography equipment and cameras.
- Darkroom processing and film development.
- Digital imaging and computer‑based photo editing.
- Use of printers and scanners for photographic output.
