Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to join the WRHA Corporate – Concordia Hospital pharmacy team. Working under the Drug Distribution Manager and a pharmacist, you will help ensure safe and efficient handling of pharmaceuticals across the health region.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals.
• Record, manufacture, compound, dispense, package, label, price, issue, and distribute medication in line with departmental policies.
• Operate and maintain automated dispensing cabinets and related distribution processes.
• Support daily pharmacy operations during days, evenings, and weekends.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Completion of Grade 12 and graduation from a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• One year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting (preferred).
• Current or prior enrollment in a CCAPP‑accredited Pharmacy Technician program (minimum 50% completion preferred).
• Pharmacy Technician Certificate from a recognized program.
• Ability to stand, lift, perform repetitive motions, and travel to other sites as needed.
• Successful criminal records, vulnerable sector, child abuse and adult abuse checks.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet distribution processes.
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Competency in pharmaceutical calculations.
