Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

Join a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy and help deliver health, beauty and convenience services to your community. As a Pharmacy Assistant you will support the pharmacist in dispensing prescriptions, providing excellent customer service and maintaining smooth pharmacy operations.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers, gather prescription information and manage cash register transactions.
• Receive new and repeat prescription orders, prepare and submit them (excluding controlled substances).
• Assist in prescription preparation, counting, measuring, packaging and labeling according to pharmacy standards.
• Handle third‑party billing, online accounts and manual billing processes.
• Answer phones, manage faxes and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Maintain accurate documentation and data entry in pharmacy systems.

Required profile

• High school diploma; pharmacy assistant course diploma preferred.
• Previous pharmacy experience is an advantage.
• Strong organizational ability and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Prescription processing and preparation.
• Cash register operation and cash handling.
• Third‑party billing and data entry in pharmacy software.
