Pharmacy Assistant – Hospital Setting

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a part‑time Pharmacy Assistant to support medication management at Concordia Hospital. Working under the Drug Distribution Manager and a supervising pharmacist, you will help ensure safe, accurate, and timely handling of pharmaceuticals for patients across the health region.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of medicines and supplies.
• Record, compound, dispense, package, label, price, and distribute pharmaceuticals according to departmental policies.
• Operate automated dispensing cabinets and maintain related documentation.
• Assist with medication ordering, receiving, and stock reconciliation.
• Support pharmacy computer systems and ensure accurate data entry.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all regulatory and safety standards.

Required profile

• Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• One year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Technician in a hospital (preferred).
• Current or prior enrollment in a CCAPP‑accredited Pharmacy Technician program (preferred).
• Valid Pharmacy Technician Certificate.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain fine‑motor dexterity.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet processes.
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Competency in pharmaceutical calculations.
