Pharmacist – Clinical Leadership & Sterile Compounding

About the role

The Pharmacist will provide clinical leadership and manage daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, effective medication therapy for patients of Bayshore Specialty Rx. Working closely with the Dispensary Manager and Supervisor, the role focuses on optimizing efficiency, patient safety, and a positive care experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide drug information and answer inquiries from patients, caregivers, and health‑care professionals.
• Conduct clinical monitoring, care planning, and medication therapy assessments.
• Program, check, and troubleshoot infusion pumps; collaborate with nurses and prescribers on IV orders.
• Develop and maintain sterile compounding worksheets in accordance with OCP/NAPRA guidelines.
• Assess and process Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) medication requests.
• Supervise IV intake orders, ensure accurate communication with providers and Ontario Health at Home, and select appropriate infusion equipment.
• Educate and supervise pharmacy students; arrange specialized training as required.
• Participate in continuing education events and complete quality‑control and improvement tasks.
• Respond to after‑hours requests and fulfill on‑call responsibilities.

Required profile

• B.Sc. Pharm or PharmD with current licensure in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
• Minimum three months experience with Kroll dispensary software (preferred).
• Experience in infusion delivery methods and sterile compounding is preferred.
• Ability to stand and walk for full shifts and lift/push/pull typical pharmacy loads.
