Personal Support Worker (PSW) – ALS Experience (Part‑Time)

About the role

Personal Support Workers (PSWs) with experience caring for clients diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) are needed for casual/part‑time shifts of 3–12 hours. The role reports to the Client Services Coordinator and involves delivering high‑quality personal care in clients’ homes across the Greater Toronto Area.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and prepare meals.
• Offer medication reminders and perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and community outings.
• Provide companionship, emotional support, and respite for families.
• Maintain accurate documentation using electronic charting systems.
• Monitor and report changes in client health or environment.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the healthcare team.

Required profile

• Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized Ontario program (NACC certification required).
• Previous experience supporting clients with ALS is essential.
• Reliable transportation and access to a mobile phone with internet.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (within 12 months).
• Negative TB test or recent chest X‑ray.
• Proof of required immunizations (COVID‑19, MMR, Tdap, Polio, Varicella, Hepatitis B).
