Personal Lines Claims Specialist – Hybrid (Waterloo & Montreal)

About the role

Zurich Canada is building a year‑round talent pool of Personal Lines Claims Specialists in Montreal and Waterloo. The position is hybrid, requiring three days per week on‑site, and focuses on first‑party auto and property claims.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and evaluate auto and property claims to determine coverage, liability and damages.
• Communicate proactively with customers, brokers and internal partners throughout the claims lifecycle.
• Apply negotiation and decision‑making skills to resolve claims fairly and efficiently.
• Use tools such as Mitchell Work Center and Guidewire to assess damages and manage cases.
• Maintain accurate documentation, ensure compliance with provincial laws and Zurich best practices, and support fraud detection, subrogation, recovery and salvage processes.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience handling auto or property claims, or equivalent education and training.
• Strong understanding of insurance policy wording, provincial regulations and repair processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple files.
• Bilingual English/French is a strong asset and required for Quebec‑based roles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using claims platforms such as Mitchell Work Center, ARMS or Guidewire.

What we offer

• Base salary range $60,000 – $75,000 CAD per year, based on skills, experience and internal equity.
