Personal Injury Lawyer – Associate (Toronto)

About the role

We are recruiting for a well‑established Toronto personal injury firm seeking an associate to join its litigation team. This role is ideal for a lawyer with solid experience in personal injury litigation, whether on the plaintiff or defence side, who is ready to take greater ownership of cases, increase client interaction, and spend more time in court.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of personal injury matters from intake through resolution.
• Assess new claims, develop litigation strategies, and advise clients.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, affidavits, mediation memoranda, settlement offers, and client correspondence.
• Represent clients at discoveries, mediations, pre‑trials, settlement meetings, and court appearances as required.
• Negotiate with insurers and opposing counsel.
• Collaborate with senior counsel on complex files and larger matters.
• Maintain regular communication with clients throughout each case.
• Analyze medical, financial, and employment records to build liability and damages arguments.
• Coordinate with medical experts and other external professionals as needed.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with a strong foundation in personal injury litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to handle cases independently and work collaboratively with senior attorneys.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail when reviewing records and evidence.
• Strong client‑focused mindset and effective communication abilities.
