Permanent Education Assistant at Wes Hosford Elementary

About the role

The Education Assistant will work full‑time at Wes Hosford Elementary, supporting teachers in creating a safe, welcoming classroom environment for students from kindergarten to Grade 6. Reporting to the Principal, the role involves both instructional and non‑instructional duties to promote student success and well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom set‑up, and delivery of instructional activities.
• Provide student supervision during class, recess, and school events.
• Support students with personal, physical, and medical needs as directed.
• Implement developmental and behavioural strategies developed by the interdisciplinary team.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (minimum); Education Assistant Certificate or comparable training is an asset.
• At least 2 years of experience working with children or youth.
• First Aid certification and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention training are desirable.
• Experience or coursework related to supporting students with special needs is a plus.
