Part‑Time Teaching Position – Applied Science & Engineering

About the role

This part‑time appointment is for a graduate‑level course in Applied Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will deliver course content that links the properties and behavior of engineering materials to their atomic structure.

Key responsibilities

• Present lectures covering atomic bonding, phase diagrams, and material properties.
• Guide students through the iron‑carbon system and related multiphase materials.
• Assess student performance through assignments, labs, and examinations.

Required profile

• Completion of CHEM 1072 or CHEM 1872 (or equivalent) with a minimum grade of C.
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a closely related field.
• Preference for candidates holding a P.Eng. designation or who are eligible to obtain it.
• Position subject to final budgetary approval and minimum enrolment requirements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of atomic bonding forces and interatomic/intermolecular interactions.
• Understanding of phase diagrams, especially the iron‑carbon system.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical properties of engineering materials.
• Experience with semiconductors, polymers, and ceramics.
