Part‑Time Custodian – Southside Aquatic Centre

About the role

The City of Woodstock is seeking a part‑time custodian to support the Southside Aquatic Centre. The role involves maintaining the pool area, surrounding facilities and ensuring a safe, clean environment for patrons.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Pool Operator with skimming, vacuuming, and cleaning pool water and decks.
• Perform general cleaning of washrooms, changing rooms, saunas, showers, and common areas.
• Carry out minor repairs, paint as needed, and replace light bulbs.
• Operate snow‑removal equipment, floor scrubbers, Genie boom lift, and other facility machinery.
• Collect and sort recycling, manage garbage, and maintain equipment inventories.
• Support set‑up and take‑down of rentals, events, and programs.

Required profile

• Grade 10 education or equivalent.
• Excellent physical condition with ability to lift up to 50 lb.
• Experience in cleaning or custodial work and basic mechanical ability.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact courteously with the public.

Required skills

• WHMIS training.
• Ladder Safety Training.
• Standard First Aid with CPR‑C.
• Mechanical ability to operate floor scrubbers, snow‑blowers, pool vacuums and power washers.
• Propane Handling Certificate (asset).
• Working at Heights Certificate (asset).
